Maramza is an iKapa producer whose music combines the sounds of urban electronica such as trap, juke and house with a fresh South African future bass flavour.

The three track release on Bombaada, “Hungry Ingcuka”, is a plundered brew of turntup ghetto steez, wavey euphoric synths, elastic vocal samples and living-large kwaito energy. Vocals on the track “Sekwa Sithi” come courtesy of Cape Town’s most prominent kwaito crew, the Ruffest, known to the world for their collaborations with LV on the Hyperdub release, Sebenza.

2013 saw Maramza remix the likes of Sibot (released through Jarring Effects) and play at parties such as Cold Turkey and YOH, and this year he has joined the Gravy crew for the Gravy 002 release and has sets confirmed for Design Indaba and Ramfest. But whichever direction things go from here, so long as he has his battered laptop and outdated copy of Cubase, there will always be Maramza to listen and gooi to.

Following on from his recent South African Bass Music productions with African Dope and Spoek Mathambo, Richard the Third’s latest offering on Bombaada sees him working with Cape Town’s top Kwaito crew, The Ruffest (once again), on the track ‘Emazweni’ a Tech-House inspired Kwaito jiver, while on the digital flip, teaming up with Mother City Urban-Music dons Pyro and Brizo on the Bass & Piano Rave workout, “Hinj’umbhede”. As the sounds of Kwaito Bass grow day-by-day, with artists such as Jumping Back Slash and events such as Cold Turkey ever popularising the style, these two tracks are sure to find themselves in the soundtrack of many of South Africa’s current, and Europe and the State’s upcoming, blazing Summer parties.

BMB-004 7FT SOUNDSYSTEM - THE REDONDO EP

Driemanskap member Redondo gets a “dub fueled” revisit with South African, digital dubber 7FT soundsystem at the controllers. The “high” level vernacular delivery alongside the grimy delay drenched riddims creates what can only be labeled as pure African Sound System music.. Jah makes me dub it!

Laid on a solid hip-hop foundation Christian Tiger School have developed their own brand of dream-hop chillwave psychedelia. Both hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Luc Vermeer and Sebastiano Zanasi have fashioned a sound and performance that speaks to their idiosyncratic tastes and personalities

Third Floor was a relevant interpretation of a genre that is renowned for being intensely introverted and personal. The album magnified and embellished that which rarely makes it out of the bedroom studio into a fine collection that have formed the foundation of their live repertoires.
